Amador County is renowned for producing California's finest Zinfandel wines. The grapes were sourced from organically farmed old vine vineyards that are planted on hillsides with soils of sandy clay loam derived from decomposed granite, unique to the region. Amador County's warm days and cool evening breezes from the Sierras promote full ripening of the grapes and a balanced acidity, leading to a robust, intensely flavored wine.

| O Winnicy | " Amador County is renowned for producing California's finest old vine Zinfandel wines, some of them crafted from 19th-century Zinfandel vines. It was in Amador County that Zinfandel was first introduced and it was in this renowned region that Zinfandel saw it's rebirth. Amador County is divided into two appellations, Shenandoah Valley and Fiddletown.Located in the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in central California, Amador County Zinfandel vineyards are planted on the rolling hillsides that range between 1,200-2,00 feet. The decomposed granite and sandy clay loam soils, unique to the Sierra Nevada region, retains the modest annual rainfall, allowing the vineyards to be dry-farmed. Many the Zinfandel vineyards date back to the 1850s and are planted on their own roots or self-regulating rootstocks, resulting in low crop yields. This, combined with good sun exposure, ensures full maturation of the Zinfandel grapes. While Amador County boasts a warm climate, the warm days give way to the cool evening breezes coming down from the Sierras. This rapid cooling helps the Zinfandel grapes retain the acidity essential when creating balanced wines.Zinfandel has always been the quintessential California wine. Taking on the characteristics of the regions where it is grown, the flavor of California Zinfandel is like the flavor of California itself. It's free love in a bottle, with a vibe all it's own - at times mellow, at others flamboyant or even spicy. But it's always, dare we say, groovy. At Zinfandelic, we strive to craft Zinfandel wines that capture the varying personalities of California's grape. Zinfandelic's Amador County Old Vine Zinfandel is sourced from sustainably farmed old vine Zinfandel vineyards in the Sierra Nevada wine-growing region, home to some of the oldest Zinfandel vineyards in the United States, if not the world. This region's unique soil composition of decomposed granite and mild climates provide ideal growing conditions for Zinfandel. " |
