La Grande Dame Rose 1998 has a brilliant and limpid robe, situated between copper and salmon. The first nose is already very expressive, with fruity (strawberry, pink grapefruit, quince) and spicy notes (pepper, cinnamon) at the forefront against a refined mineral background. When the wine is rotated, more gourmet aromas of fruit appear(griotte cherry and blackberry jam), interwoven with the flavour of brioche. The extraordinary aromatic complexity of this wine becomes even more intense when tasted. In the mouth, the wine reveals aromas of griotte cherry, grenadine, and crystallized blackberry, highlighted by the presence of sweet spices (vanilla), endowing La Grande Dame Rosé1998 with an exceptional smoothness. Due to the presence of Pinot Noir grapes, the wine's aromatic strength and impressive structure are balanced by a surprising freshness which is omnipresent from beginning to end. In fact, La Grande Dame Rosé 1998 offers us a peacock's tail of tastes, thanks to its long finish and wide-ranging.

The basic blend is made up of 64%Pinot Noir grapes from the Grands Crus at Aÿ, in the Grande Vallée de la Marne, and at Verzenay, Verzy,Ambonnay and Bouzy in the Montagne de Reims. The blend also includes 36%Chardonnay grapes from three Grands
Crus: Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Côte des Blancs.

La Grande Dame Rosé 1998 is produced by adding 15% of red wine made entirely from Pinot Noir grapes from the Bouzy vineyard. All the grapes come from Clos Colin, one of our best plots located in the heart of this GrandCru.

An extremely cold winter, with snow on the Montagne de Reims, gave way to an unexpected warm spell with moderate rain showers. A little frost was noted in the most vulnerable areas. Spring was early and wet, while May was particularly hot and dry. Rain at the end of June did not affect flowering, which took place under excellent, nearly heat wave, conditions. Rain and hot weather alternated at the beginning of summer, encouraging the vines to grow rapidly. August was dry and sunny, perfect for
ripening the grapes. After a grey and cloudy two weeks at the beginning of september, the weather turned, providing the ideal dry climate to harvest the grapes, which were in superb condition.

O Winnicy "Nee Nicole Barbe Ponsardin, she was widowed in 1805 at the age of 27. Veuve Clicquot defied every convention of the day to take the helm of her late husband's small Champagne house. She enlisted help wisely, took astute risks, and made important technological innovations (including the invention of 'remuage' or 'riddling'.), leading the House to world renown. One of her most significant triumphs was sending a secret shipment of her Champagne to Russia in 1814 - in defiance of Napoeleons' blockade - a great success.Today the House of Veuve Clicquot is among the most prestigious Champagne firms. Its extensive vineyard holdings, many originally purchased by Madame Clicquot, stretch throughout the Champagne region and are unparallel in size and quality."
