This is a Joint Venture of the I.Szemes, FX Pichler and M. Tement companies, from the heartland of the Austrian Blaufränkisch growing area at Horitschon in the Mittelburgenland.
In 2006, this blend not only displays its customary pepperiness and hints of chocolate, but also ripe, sweetly fruity sensations, which meld on the palate with its ripe tannins.

| O Winnicy | "The Tement Estate lies on a narrow plateau, into which the slope of the Zieregg cru gently flattens.It is also here that the company's new winery has been completed, after five years of building work. This new winery was dug (with considerable difficulty) into the coral reef that was formed approximately 20 million years ago just under the surface of the sea. The rock walls have been integrated into various rooms in the winery, and these now serve not only to demonstrate the nature of the local terroir but also to ensure an appropriate level of humidity for the oak barrels which are increasingly used at the estate.Once the building work had been completed, most of the protruding concrete parts of the construction were covered up again with earth, and today vines grow once more in this soil.In this way, the impressive winery building, which contains no less than 3,500 m² of premises for vinification and storage, has been integrated splendidly and with great sensitivity into its tranquil viticultural environment. Right in the centre of the winery, on its own separate floor, there is the splendid conference hall and tasting room which seems to offer - with its panoramic view towards the Slovenian border - a wide-angled shot of the surrounding countryside.With the construction of this ultra-modern building for the production and storage of our wines, all of our winemaking dreams have been fulfilled, as regards having a perfect environment for taking care of our various products and allowing them to mature. However, there is always room for improvements. In the immediate future, these will probably take the shape of increasing our skills with regard to vineyard husbandry and assessing more precisely the actual properties of the soils in our various vineyards. " |
