A Burgundy of very typical, ruby red colour, very elegant fruit with softly integrated tannins, very stylish, a fine structure.
Its bouquet is reminiscent of red and black currants, elegant and with an enormous grip on the palate, softly integrated tannins.
The single vineyard Stangl is a pure south slope. In the lower third the slope is turning a bit to southwest and builds a basin. That is very important in the end of the growing season, here the mist is dammed and the vines can use the humidity to develop a good bouquet. In this location we have deep loess soil, which is very much loved by Burgundy wines (white or blue)

| O Winnicy | "Our estate is listed in the Maria Theresian land register (1751) and was for the first time mentioned in 1649 in the local parish register. The farm has remained in the family, and its owners have been making a livelihood from wine-growing since then.In 1885 Josef Topf of Oberdürnbach near Maissau married a daughter from the Traunfellner estate (a family estate since1649) on Strass Nr. 6. Even back then wine-growing was their main source of income. They used to take their wine to Vienna by horse and cart to sell it to the local inn-keepers. A trip there and back would take them three days. Various circumstances, such as the owners early death, the death of the eldest son, and the devastating effect of the phylloxera pest caused great damage to the business. As the eighth child of the family, Johann Topf I. took over his parents property in 1929, at the age of thirty-three, and decided to begin from scratch. In 1960 he was able to pass down the property to his successor Johann Topf II. The latter began bottling the wine and selling the total of roughly nine hectares throughout the whole of Austria. Up until today numerous medals document the above-average quality of wines vinified by Johann Topf II.In 1990 Johann Topf III. took over the business and continually extended it until it reached todays size. His main concern has always been to even further enhance the high quality of his wines. " |
