Very well-balanced Sauvignon Blanc wine which shows tropical, fruit salad flavours with a hint of grass and nettles aromas. Excellent to enjoy among family and friends. This is the tropical Sauvignon blanc style for which Bartho, the winemaker, first became known. It stands to reason hed continue to build the reputation of this classic wine. The characteristics of the grapes selected from the local region and the Langkloof manifest in what Bartho calls a wine that will keep.

| O Winnicy | "In 2005 Johan and Mariette Pretorius, owners of one of the most sought after wine farms in the Walker Bay area, Waboomsrivier with the adjacent farm Waterval, partnered with well known winemaker Bartho Eksteen. They built a lovely, modern cellar in Hermanus, South-Africa and grow 62 ha of different grape cultivars. Bartho's dream of being able to source a consistent supply of grapes and the ideal environment in which to practice his brand of winemaking came true at Hermanuspietersfontein.Having chosen the original name of the village, Hermanuspietersfontein, we can rightfully lay claim to a heritage and place upon which we will build a reputation not only for the quality of our own brand, but also to add to the importance of place of Walker Bay in the South African wine industry. From the outset, our goal has been to build a cellar and produce wines of the highest quality which will add value to the reputation which Hermanus already enjoys as a wine-producing region. On 19 September 2008 Hermanuspietersfontein was awarded Champion Status by the Biodiversity & Wine Initiative (BWI) the 11th wine farm in South Africa, and the first in die Overberg and Walker Bay region to achieve this honour. The goals of BWI are to minimise the further loss of threatened natural habitat, and to contribute to sustainable wine production, through the adoption of biodiversity guidelines by the South African wine industry. History:Hermanus Pieters, a dutch farm school teacher, came to the Cape in 1815. Such were the times that sometimes the farmers whose children he taught would give him a sheep or two in payment for his services. Pieters came to South Africa at a time when Dutch-speaking farmers were unhappy about English as a mandatory medium of instruction in government schools. They consequently imported their own teachers from Holland. During his travels between farms, Pieters discovered a spring and grazing for his sheep on these shores. He was such a popular man in the community that the spring became known to all as Hermanus Pieters se Fontein. He did not live long enough to experience the pride of the village being named after him. Many years after the founding of Hermanuspietersfontein in 1855, the local postmaster had the name shortened to make his job easier.Today Hermanus enjoys the reputation of being one of South Africas most popular resort towns. People from all over the world come to see the Southern Right Whale in the Walker Bay.Since Hermanus Pieters purpose and passion was to teach the children of the Overberg farmers through the medium of Dutch the forerunner to Afrikaans in South Africa - we decided in our own small way to immortalize Hermanus Pieters through the name of our cellar and wines by using only Afrikaans copy on our labels and packaging." |
