| O Winnicy | "Our vineyards, situated on the eastern slopes of Dassenberg, about 70km north of Cape Town, are surrounded by wheat fields. In winter the most brilliant of greens, these ripen in early summer to earthy golden, when the vineyards have burst into vibrant green leaf. The baking heat of summer is tempered only by a south-easterly wind. It is this intensity that forges our wines. The fruit ripens to syrupy sweetness; the flavours intensely concentrated because of the tiny crop that the vineyards can carry. For our vineyards are neither irrigated, nor trellised (hence the Bush Vines descriptive). The vineyards experience adversity, but they do so with character, offering up a yield of which we are immensely proud. " |
